Threat of Terrorism

Unlike many nations, Canada has been fortunate that no major terrorist incidents have occurred within its borders, or originated from Canada (such as the tragic 1985 Air India bombing) in over two decades.

Terrorism, however, remains a real threat to the safety and security of Canadians. Since the September 11, 2001 attacks against the United States, there have been numerous major terrorist acts committed around the world.

As some of the following incidents illustrate, Canadians and Canadian interests are not immune to terrorism, at home or abroad.
